So John Fleming on Halloween could not decide on a Halloween
custom for 2013. His good Toastmaster friend Dave Yadallee described
how Liberals were beating the odds. So John cracked an egg on his face
and went out being a pollster for Halloween!!

Still rooting for conservative leaders, eh, doc? No bloody wonder the
voters in this country got fed up with your Liberals and found YOUR seat
with their collective foot.

It's not 'Liberals' who govern BC - it's conservatives hiding behind the
Liberal label.

If you were any smarter than you are, you would have noticed that it's
Stephen Harper that holds Christy Clark's hand in all negotiations
involving oil pipelines and in foisting the HST onto BCers. You won't
see Justin Trudeau doing that. Unless he wants no seats at all in BC,
that is.

Nonetheless, I AM glad to see the upset in BC--now all necessary
pipelines WILL BE BUILT without further idealistic crap from the
natives and the lefties. If need be, bring in the army to protect
the pipelines which, BY THE WAY, are safer than transporting oil by
rail. Ask the people near Lake Wabamun about rail transport of
petroleum and what happens, even years later, to their lake after
the railroad accident there.

There are FAR more people who would BENEFIT from such pipeline than

If I understand the story right, the Liberals in BC aren\t against the
Northern Gateway pipeline per se. What they are after is a bigger
slice of the revenue said pipeline will generate.

And contrary to Con/Karen's belief, the Liberal majority in BC is the
result of support by a plurality of voters rather than a majority.

I remember hearing that the $2 bill wasn't popular on the Prairies because

kvetch. It's a done deal. The left whine away about tanker
accidents--if they fucking well had stayed in school, they would
have learned that REFINED oil is LIGHTER than sea water and will
stay on top of the ocean, all the easier to suck up. It's the
unrefined crude that tends to sink and be harder to clean up. Also,
natural gas hydrocarbons, if released, simply rise straight up and
become rapidly diluted in the atmosphere. Little or no lasting
pollution. These whiners had parents who were whiners back in the
60's. The parental drug use obviously damaged their DNA, resulting
in brain-dead idiots, running around like a bunch of Chicken
Littles.

I believe it also had a negative association because of its connection
with bets in horse racing, or something along that line, too.

There was a double whammy.

It's an old joke, but ...

Karen Gordon got home late one evening, to find her parents sitting up at
the kitchen table, waiting for her.

"And what have you been doing, out at this hour?" asked her mother.

"Whoring, Mommy", answered Karen.

"Whoring! That's terrible. And just how much money did you make, selling
your body?" demanded her father.

"Well, Daddy, I'll have you know that I made twenty-two dollars and five
cents."

Karen's parents sit dumbstruck for a moment.

" ... and five cents. Who paid you five cents?" wondered her mother.

"Silly Mommy ... all of them did!"

and of course, the Chinese, who would be not only owners of a large oil

You BET there are 'far more people who would benefit from such pipeline.'

Problems is: far more people don't care about the oil companies, the
Harper government's need for tax revenue, and the Chinese.

I was at the Calgary airport in the mid 1990s and purchased a pack of
gum. The guy gave me 2 $1.00 bills and a $2 bill in my change.

I asked "Why?".

He said "This is the Calgary airport, we still get tourists from the
1988 Winter Games, and they bring their money from those days with
them."

By then, we'd moved on from the pink / orange $2.00 bill, and the
$1.00 bill was history.

I suppose it would be like me taking out my old French Francs in Paris
today.

But they would have laughed at me.

Of course, since my father was with the underground, we still have
Vichy Francs. Recognized by the Nazi Occupation government, with a
little luck.

Or, I suppose there are some bills from the US revolution. Southern
currency.

Not legal tender.

She could get around that by allowing pre-booking, perhaps with an
incentive of buy five and get one free.
