BCPA Newsletter June 5, 2011

2011 Provincials:

We are now one week away from the 2011 Provincial Championships and I
look forward to seeing you all there. Please consider putting up a
poster for the event at your training facility:
http://bcpowerlifting.ca/calendar/2011%20Provincials%20-%20revised.pdf
Encourage your friends and family to come out and watch the contest.
Admission is $5 at the door.
Further details can be found on the contest entry form at
http://bcpowerlifting.ca/calendar/2011%20BCPA%20Provincial%20Powerlifting%20and%20Bench%20Press%20Championships%20entry%20form.pdf

It is not entirely clear whether we will meet the three national-level
referee requirement for National records as the Provincials. However,
if you are attempting a record, let the expeditors know and the MC
will announce it as such if this requirement is in place.

We are still in need of a few volunteers. If you are not competing
please contact me to find out how you assist. There are a variety of
ways that you can help out within your comfort level and we run
through all the details with our volunteers on the morning of the
contest.

Raw/Classic Lifting - Update:

For the first time, the powerlifting portion of the Provincials will
have a Raw/Classic (unequipped) division. As mentioned previously, the
CPU and BCPA would automatically adopt any IPF decisions on what
constitutes Raw/Classic lifting. The IPF has now settled on a
definition of Classic lifting for the 2012 Classic World Cup:

Consequently, any lifting attire that conforms to these rules will be
permitted in the Classic division at the Provincials. This also
applies to the Classic Nationals in Newfoundland in November.

The CPU has now approved qualifying standards for the 2011 Classic
Nationals:

I hope to see you all next Sunday. Best of luck with your training.

Kind regards,
Justin Gray
BCPA President
