BCDA State Codes in Patient resource

Hello! I believe there may be a discrepancy between the BCDA data dictionary and the BCDA state code data itself.

In the BCDA data dictionary (here), CCLF-FHIR R4 Mapping tab, there are two FHIR R4 mappings for Patient.address.state. They correspond with CCLF8 fields BENE_FIPS_STATE_CD and GEO_USPS_STATE_CD. However, in the BCDA data itself, we are seeing SSA state codes. SSA, FIPS, and USPS state codes are all different code sets.

Can you clarify which state codes we should expect to see in Patient.address.state? If the correct code set is SSA, can you update the BCDA data dictionary to reflect that?

Sorry for the confusion here about the beneficiaries' address information. You are correct that this is an issue with the data dictionary. Please note this discrepancy in the data dictionary between FIPS and SSA code sets applies to provider information as well. We will update the data dictionary to reflect that the expected codes will follow the SSA code set.
