Hi community,

I am looking for accessing my practice’s bcda data through cms portal either directly or via APIs. Can anyone suggest steps to follow. Also I have below questions.

Q-1 : How would an organisation (practice) can access the BCDA data directly?
Q-2 : We are a practice and we want to develop the APIs to analyse data from BCDA directly. Without reaching ACO multiple times?

Hi Nikunj,

Thanks for your question! BCDA is available to ACOs and similar organizations participating in the Medicare Shared Savings Program, Kidney Care Choices, and ACO REACH alternative payment models. Practices or providers within those organizations who are interested in access to Medicare claims data would be best served by the Data at the Point of Care (DPC) API. You can find more information on that API at https://dpc.cms.gov or connect with the DPC Google Group.

Thanks,
The BCDA Team

Hi!

You mentioned the DPC, but it seems like they are still in "Pilot".  Is it the same team and is there an ETA on signing up new members?

Hi Neil,

The BCDA and DPC teams are separate, though we are all part of the Data & Analytics Strategy Group here at CMS and work together closely to bring CMS claims data to you via FHIR-based APIs.

While we don't have an update to share with you yet regarding the DPC Pilot, any updates on access to DPC or the pilot phase will be announced in the DPC Google Group first.

If you have questions for the DPC team, the best way to get in touch is through the DPC Google Group or by email (dpc...@cms.hhs.gov)

Thanks,
The BCDA Team & the DPC Team
