Hi BCDA Community,

CMS has designated 42 additional diagnosis codes as pertaining to substance use and behavioral health. BCDA and other CMS claims data sources suppress these to protect patient privacy in accordance with the 42 CFR Part 2 Final RuleEffective today, April 23rd 2026, BCDA will suppress claims containing any of these new diagnosis codes as well as those already listed in Appendix A of the CCLF Information Packet. The CCLF Information Packet will include these codes in its next update. Please note that the data suppression includes claims such as Annual Wellness Visits where these diagnosis codes may be included as additional diagnoses.

What can I do to prepare?

No action is required from users at this time. CMS has recommended that this change be effective moving forward, but that past claims need not be remediated.

Please let us know if you have any questions about this change.

Thank you,

The BCDA team

Hellol,
Is there a way to get the list of the new 42 codes in advance of them being published in the new packet. I was assuming that they are known because they would have been agreed upon in the 42 CFR Part 2 Final Rule, but I wasn't locating the ICD-10 codes easily.

Is this the list of newly added codes or a complete list with the new codes included?

Is this list available publicly?

Hi Mark,

The list shared here and with the Alternative Payment Model announcements contains only the newly added codes. The full updated list will be publicly available in the CCLF Information Packet soon.
Thank you,
