Hello BCDA Team,

Is there a specific location in the EOB that we should be looking for the place of service name for an admission (i.e. "Cedar Mount Sinai Hospital")?

Thank you,
Boneth

Hi Boneth,

Apologies for the slow response here!

Each EoB resource should contain an "Organization" resource which includes the name and NPI of the facility. If the name is not provided, you may find success by looking up the Facility Provider NPI or other relevant NPIs contained in the EoB Resource using the NPPES NPI registry.

Additionally, the "Place of Service" code is found in the the EoB element item[N].locationCodeableConcept.coding[N].code for professional claims. However this simple code element does not contain the name of the facility where services were provided. You can find more information about the Place of Service code and its possible values here.

Thanks,
The BCDA Team
