Hey BCDA Community!

We're making some changes to the way content in this Google Group is managed and visible to the public.

What is changing
Effective November 21st, the following changes will be made to the Google Group
  • Anyone visiting the BCDA Google Group will be able to view all past and future posts and threads without needing to join the Google Group. Currently, only members of the Google Group are able to view the content in the Google Group.
  • All new messages to the BCDA Google Group will be approved by a BCDA Google Group moderator before the message is posted to the Google Group web interface and sent to Group members' email addresses. Currently, only messages flagged by Google's spam filter require a moderator's approval.
Why we are making this change
As we approach the start of a new performance year (PY), we hope that allowing wider public access to the Google Group will ensure that model entities new to BCDA in PY2025 will be able to quickly find the information they need to get up and running with the API. Our changes to moderation are intended to help keep PHI and other sensitive information being mistakenly posted to the Google Group.

How to prepare for this change
While there is no action required from any members of the BCDA Google Group, you may want to take the time to review your past posts for any content you'd prefer not to have shared with a larger public audience. With the changes to our moderation settings, it may take up to a few hours for us to review and approve your messages before they are posted to the Google Group.

Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or feedback on these changes!

Thanks,
The BCDA Team

Hi BCDA community,

The changes to the Google Group's visibility and moderation settings are now live. As a recap, here are the updates we've made:
  1. Anyone visiting the BCDA Google Group is now able to view all posts and threads without needing to join the Google Group.
  2. All new messages to the BCDA Google Group will be reviewed and approved by a BCDA Google Group moderator before the message is posted to the Google Group web interface and sent to Group members' email addresses.
We hope that allowing wider public access to the Google Group will ensure that model entities new to BCDA in PY2025 will be able to quickly find the information they need to get up and running with the API. Our changes to moderation are intended to help keep PHI and other sensitive information being mistakenly posted to the Google Group.

Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or feedback on these changes!

Thanks,
