New message indicators doubles

I have started using BBTweet on my 8830 and love it, but I have one
issue: any time a new tweet comes in, it shows as 2 new messages on
the indicator (the little envelope with the numbers beside it on the
top of the screen). I open and read the tweet, and it works just as
I'd hoped, but when I delete it, the new message count only goes down
by one. The new message count has slowly been building up with no new
messages remaining because of it. Can I resolve this and clear those
numbers?
