Hi everyone,

I wanted to share a fascinating paper that delves deeply into the behavior of BBR, BBRv2, CUBIC, Vegas, and Reno congestion control mechanisms, specifically in Wi-Fi environments under various conditions. The paper offers a detailed analysis and comparison, showcasing how these algorithms perform in different scenarios, shedding light on their respective advantages and limitations.

If you're interested in how these congestion control strategies stack up against each other, particularly in the context of Wi-Fi networks, this paper is a valuable resource. It not only covers the theoretical aspects but also provides practical insights that are highly relevant to our discussions on network performance and optimization.

Check out the paper here: https://doi.org/10.1109/ACCESS.2024.3425271

I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this, especially on how BBRv2 compares to other mechanisms like CUBIC, Vegas, and Reno in Wi-Fi environments.

Happy reading!

I have a very, very, low opinion of the wifi emulators out there, and a good followup would be to repeat your experiments against different APs and manufacturers.

I would try a broadcom based product, an eero, ubnt, and anything using modern openwrt.

I do keep hoping for tests as comprehensive as yours against more real world devices.

This btw is now a std API in the linux kernel for many wifi chips.
