Also posted to STH/*. apologies if you see it twice !

Hi all,

Now I have a working Atom disk drive, I'va had a play, and it seems to
support the *drive command in much the same way as Beeb DFS, though the
manual seems to make no mention of it ! And it does seem to support
multiple drives, though as far as I know Acorn only ever supplied single
drive systems.

So I descided to have a play, and attached a 3.5" drive to it as drive
1/3, trying to format this gets all the way through the format stage but
always falls over verifying after it displays track &14 (20), I suspect
this is the point that precomp is enabled....

I do seem to remember that there where problems with DFS 0.90 (8271)
with 3.5" drives, does anyone have the details of what patches where
needed to make it work.

Also does anyone happen to have a dissasembily of the Atom DOS rom ?

Cheers.

Phill.

Hi Phill,

you can find the disassembly listing at:

http://www.acornatom.nl/atom_handleidingen/aw123/atomware.html

Here are the disassembly listings of Cxxx, Exxx and Fxxx.
I have also attached a list made with DIS6502.EXE, an Atari disassembler
with the abillity to save textfiles.

The Atom Discpack manual can be found at:

http://www.acornatom.nl/atom_handleidingen/fdc/discpack.html

There was also a DOS controller based on a WD1793 or WD1797 and that one
could use 40/80 track and SS/DS drives .
This was not an original Acorn drive. Look at:

http://www.acornatom.nl/hardware/fdc/telec.htm

Atom DOS supports 4 drives:

Drive 0: disk drive 1 side A
Drive 1: disk drive 2 side A
Drive 2: disk drive 1 side B
Drive 3: disk drive 2 side B

The drives must be single sided and single density.

Greetings
KC
