KlezCalYidFest is back! After a joyous inaugural weekend last year, our celebration of klezmer and contemporary Yiddish culture returns to the Finnish Hall in Berkeley, October 9–11, 2026, co-presented by KlezCalifornia. It will be a weekend of concerts, workshops, dancing, and more, with local and international artists from across the klezmer and Yiddish culture scene.

In addition to this hot new generation of klezmer/Yiddish musicians, the festival will include leading international lights of the genre – Veretski Pass (Berkeley’s own Josh Horowitz, Cookie Siegelstein and Stu Brotman), and the virtuosic Strauss/Warschauer duo, based in New York. Rounding out the bill is Montreal-based Avia Moore, a talented dance teacher who last year had hundreds on their feet dancing ecstatically to live music – this year provided by Veretski – and a Yiddish puppet show, Der Goylem.

The festival was started last year by Dmitri Gaskin — an internationally recognized klezmer accordionist — who set out to create a sorely needed source of joy and community for all. And remember: you don't have to be Jewish to love klezmer!
