Dear friends, please join us for the Nowruz celebration this Saturday at Mentorgarden in San Francisco.
Nowruz (Newroz), the spring new year, symbolizes the rebirth of life. Nowruz is celebrated by many cultures, including Persians, Kurds, Afghans, Tajiks, Azerbaijanis, Turks in Central Asia, and others across West and Central Asia, and carries strong cultural symbolism connected to renewal, resistance, and freedom.
This year, our gathering carries a deeper intention. We come together in a Circle of Presence to honor the light of spring while holding space and remembrance for the lives lost in Iran.
In these challenging times, we gather through Persian, Kurdish, Turkish, and Azeri melodies, transforming “dancing grief” into collective dignity and resistance. Through music, remembrance, and shared stories, we stand together in solidarity and hope.
The evening will feature live music by Ramona Amini, Duygu Gün, Özgür Sümer, Raman Osman, and friends, weaving together sounds from across the region to welcome the arrival of spring and the renewal it brings.
