Dear Friends, This Sunday’s El Cerrito Scandia dance will include a short informal remembrance and sharing to honor Elizabeth Lev. We will feature several of the dances that Elizabeth
especially loved: Rorospols, Åtabakspolska and Finnskogspols.
Note: Special featured guest musician:
Accordionist
Bill Likens - who will play some lively Norwegian dance tunes, incl. Rorospols & Hallingspringar!
Also, here is a (1969?) Life Magazine article about the community healthcare work that Elizabeth did as a young nurse in the impoverished rural south in Mississippi. (Includes beautiful
photos of Elizabeth in action.)

Scandia Dance Workshop, Party and Potluck in El Cerrito
Sunday, January 18, 4:00 - 10:00 pm
A special tribute to Elizabeth Lev
Dear Scandia Friends,
We are dedicating our dance this month to Elizabeth Lev, our dancing friend who tragically and unexpectedly died last month. Elizabeth touched so many of our lives in many different ways. Following the potluck,
a brief time will be set aside for people to share remembrances, stories and thoughts about our friend. Ken Olcott will give a short synopsis of the rich life that Elizabeth lived. We invite folks to bring photos and other items to share.
To give festival goers a “head start, the Dance Workshop will feature an
introduction to two dances that will be taught at the Scandomania Festival, February 13-16: Valdresspringar (Norway) and
Malung I polska (Sweden).
Please bring a dish/offering for our potluck. Thank you!
Sponsored by Golden Gate Nordic Music & Dance, a program of the Northern California Spelmanslag, a non-profit public benefit corporation.
