So I'm trying to make the switch from Textmate to BBEdit and I've
gotten past most differences except for one...the little arrows BBEdit
puts in to show tab.

For each time I hit tab a little arrow is displayed on the screen.

Is it possible to turn this off? I found detab but that just removes
the tabs in favor of spaces. I just don't want to see that little
arrow. I've looked through preferences and search a little for an
obvious answer but I can't seem to find anything.

A quick image of what I'm trying to explain is here: www.reljac.com/so_1/bbedit.png

(I've also asked this same question on stackoverflow -
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6756495/hide-the-tab-arrow-in-bbedit)

Try Edit > Text Options ...
(or the second Icon in the Navigation Bar (that with the little 'T' in it)

It sounds like you turned "Show Invisibles" on at some point,
and haven't turned it off. The global setting is in Preferences
-> Editor Defaults, but can also be adjusted on a per-file basis.

Someday I'll look back on all this and laugh... until they
sedate me.
