Hi all,

I just got a new Mac with an M1 Ultra chip. I'm trying to set up BBEdit with the jedi-language-server, as per these instructions. It worked fine on my old intel Macbook Pro, but with the new machine, I get the message "server command not found". I linked the Python section to the python in my current venv, which seemed to work before.

Thanks,

David

Homebrew used to use /usr/local/ but on Apple Silicon uses /opt/homebrew/

My guess is that BBEdit isn’t getting the $PATH set properly, although I’m on my iPhone and not sure how to fix it at the moment.

I hope this might help.

Tj

Thanks. That sounds plausible. If at some point you can help me change that path setting, that would be helpful.

Thanks,

DS

Hi

Looking at Chapter 14 in the User Manual, it says that BBEdit will use the PATH environment variable if set:

> Locating Unix tools via PATH
>
> When locating Unix tools for various purposes, BBEdit will honor your account’s PATH environment variable (provided it is available and not empty). This should result in more predictable outcomes when using aftermarket installations of open-source tools as well as for alternative installations of tools included with the system (such as Python).
>
> If you modify your PATH, you must quit and relaunch BBEdit for those changes to take effect. Note also that if your PATH contains entries relative to the current working directory, those entries are not likely to work since $PWD is undefined for a GUI application, though absolute paths will work.

My guess is that you will need to add /opt/homebrew/bin to the PATH environment variable set in your .zprofile file. I should already be set with some defaults.

Cheers

François
