Sorry to sound ignorant, but I am used to Dreamweaver. How does one
GEt or PUT. Also, why do the files and folders sometimes change icon?

BBEdit is a HTML editor and not a site manager in the way that
DW is. You can define FTP for your site under Preferences ->
FTP Settings and then upload to the server or open a file from
the server using the appropriate commands from the File menu.
But don't expect BBEdit to upload an entire site including
associated files (images, stylesheets, etc.). DW automates this
task for ease of use by all levels of site designers. But those
of use who hand code rather than using a tool such as DW prefer
to use our own FTP clients alongside BBEdit. This gives us
precision and control which can be more useful than DW's FTP capabilities.

The other person's reply already sent you in this direction, but to
help you be more specific, if this does help, here is an example of
how to save a file to the server (what I am doing so far, ...and there
may be more that I could be doing):

-after I edit my file then I use the keystroke which matches the file
command 'save to ftp/sftp server'. In that dialog I navigate to where
I want to place the file and hit the save button. (Before hitting
'save' click the bookmarks popup in the upper left corner (BBedit 9)
and choose 'add bookmark', name it after the directory structure, and
then next time you can just use that bookmark for that location on the
server instead of having to navigate.)

I am not doing this, but I think you can even keep *server* copies of
files in an open/saved project so you don't have to manually open them
to work on them directly... (Myself I prefer to work on my local
copies and just saved up to the server when they're ready.. rarely
needing to open/edit a server copy directly)

This may be a really dumb question, but:

I miss the yellow highlight that showed what LINE I am on (BBEdit 8).
Seems to have disappeared in 9, and I'd like it back. Can you tell me
how to re-activate it? I would look in the manual but I cannot for
the life of me remember what it's actually called.

I think what you want is Preferences -> Text Colors -> Highlight insertion point

Adding to what I previously wrote, I use Transmit as my FTP
client. It has a cool feature called DockSend. Once you define a
site's local and remote locations in Transmit, you can can drag
any file to its dock icon and it will upload to the appropriate directory.

So if I am working on a site whose images change often, I'll add
the image directories to the BBEdit project listing for that
site. After editing an image or creating a new one in Fireworks,
I simply return to BBEdit and upload the changed image by
dragging its file along with the revised html file to Transmit's
dock icon. Everything gets uploaded to the correct directory.

You can drag one or multiple files from the documents drawer or
from the project file listing. Very slick. :-)

Hi

It is Auto-Upload in Interarchy.

It is not something I use a great deal because I "mirror" everything
100% both ways using "Net Disks" in Interarchy.

I hope this isn't too OT for BBEdit list :)
