I am using the latest version of BBEdit. The manual says that

"When you use the right-arrow key to navigate over a closing delimiter (right paren/brace/bracket/curly quote), the opening delimiter will be briefly highlighted. If you wish to turn this off, there's an expert pref:
defaults write com.barebones.bbedit FlashBalancePointsWhenNavigating -bool NO"

It is good that the opening delimiter can be seen when navigating over a closing delimiter. But it is just flashing quickly and as some code can have a number of delimiters in a row, it is really hard to see. It is possible that when standing next to a (closing or opening) delimiter, the opposite delimiter is highlighted, perhaps both get a different colour? I cannot seem to find if this option exists, and I find it very handy (NotePad++ has this feature and can save quite some time!).

Thanks

I'm not aware of a feature in BBEdit to do that. When I want to confirm matching delimiters, I use the 'Balance' command (I have it as Cmd-B). It doesn't work the same as your explanation, but it does give the same answer.

Thank you Charlie.
I appreciate your reply.
I did see that function, and will play around with it more to get myself familiarised with it. But it means pressing a buttton.
I still think that it would be a nice feature to have, I find it highly useful in NotePad++ (but otherwise I find BBEdit much superior to NotePad++).
Best wishes
Maarten

Pressing a button??

I do Cmd-B to see the 'balanced' text, and then right-arrow to continue editing/typing. My hands don't leave the keyboard.

Also, if I want to edit near the opening delimiter - Cmd-B and then left-arrow.
