The clangd that I need to use is in /opt/local/bin (MacPorts version).
"which clangd" reports: /opt/local/bin/clangd, so I think I’m good there.

I’ve created the compile_commands.json and placed it at the top level of the tree. This is where I run ‘make’ from.
The language server says it is ready to start.

BBEdit doesn’t do source checking however. What step(s) am I missing?

I’m not running BBEdit as a project on this tree. Does that make a difference? I don’t remember it being one in the past.

Please see the troubleshooting guidance here: https://www.barebones.com/support/bbedit/lsp-notes.html#trouble

Someday I'll look back on all this and laugh... until they sedate me.

I installed the symlink (Application Support/BBEdit/Language Servers/clangd -> /opt/local/bin/clangd)
I’ve built the compile_commands.json and placed it at the top level of the build tree.

The log for LanguageServerProtocol-C++.txt reports the following (over and over)
================================================================================
Application startup: 15.5.5 (15C124)
macOS version 26.4 (25E246)

An apparent error is from the “BBEditRunLog-<hostname>.txt”
================================================================================
Application startup: 16.0 (16A46)
macOS version 26.5 (25F71)
2026-06-04 11:48:57.878: [error] Notifications have not been authorized; check the macOS “Notification” settings.
2026-06-04 11:48:58.125 BBEdit[65470:5182330] The language module at file:///Applications/BBEdit.app/ contains one or more missing run kind equivalences, as follows:
2026-06-04 11:48:58.125 BBEdit[65470:5182330] com.barebones.bblm.double-string

Still got nothing.
