AppleScript is a dynamic language (the valid keywords and objects
change based on what application is being targeted) so it's a poor
match for BBEdit's syntax coloring.
I use and recommend Script Debugger <http://www.latenightsw.com> if
you want more than Apple's Script Editor provides.

Smile <http://www.satimage.fr/software/en/smile/index.html> is not bad
either,

I agree that Script Editor, or Script Debugger, or some other
dedicated app is probably a better choice for working with
AppleScript. But if you simply must use BBEdit – and let's face it,
sometimes you just need some powerhouse text processing that Script
Editor can't provide – here's an AppleScript CLM from Bill Hernandez.
It's not perfect, but it provides some degree of basic AppleScript
support in BBEdit.

Affrus is not an AppleScript editor; it a Perl editor/debugger.
And being the only GUI perl debugger for OSX (that I'm aware of,
not counting X11) it's an indispensable tool. To me it's worth
just as much as BBEdit.
And it will quite happily use BBEdit as an editor so I get the
best of both worlds too. :-)
There are some perl syntax highlighting problems though that
keep BBEdit from being the *perfect* perl editor. And the BBSW
guys have my bug reports; just (patiently) waiting for the
language module to be updated. (I was a bit disappointed to see
so many changes to the Ruby module recently but no changes to
the Perl language module. Hopefully the Perl language module
will be next to get an update.)
