Ok, this isn't a request for support or anything but more of a curiosity. Am I the only person in the world that likes the classic light BBedit mode instead of a Dark Theme?

I like "BBEdit Light" a little more than "Classic BBEdit" but I like
them both a lot more than a dark theme.

(I ran the Mojave betas for quite awhile but never took to the dark
theme myself. I also went back to High Sierra because I like my
automation apps and Mojave is the closest thing I've seen to Windows
Vista since Windows Vista.)

I prefer light. I never use dark themes.

  1. I'm using "Solarized Light" 99% of the time but there was a time when I used the dark themes ("Solarized Dark" and also some other black-ish themes) while working during the night.

  2. Funny: Before writing this I switched to the BBEdit Light and then to BBEdit Classic (because I forgot the difference between the two). After switching back to Solarized Light, the very first line of the reply ("On 29 Sep 2018, at 3:01, Simdude wrote:") was messed up: The font-color was white! After restarting BBEdit everything was fine again. :-)

Regards,
Vlad

Good point. The light mode is a little muted and looks good.

You're right. BBEdit Light softens the background just a little.

Same here ... my eyes scream (= don't work) using dark theme.

No, I also don't like the 'dark' theme - either BBedit or Mojave.  And
if you are interested in Linux, I definitely dislike Gnome3.  I'll stick
with BBedit  12, MacOS 10.13  and Gnome 2.  At least it will save me a
BBedit renewal subscription.  BareBones beware you could loose money
here, nobody likes the dark - see the messages so far!

Perhaps you are unaware that you can choose from an assortment
of built-in color schemes, and also that Dark Mode in macOS
10.14 is an option.

Someday I'll look back on all this and laugh... until they
sedate me.

Everyone knows the only acceptable them is PONIES!

But seriously, I never remember to change this since it is 1) not under appearance 2) doesn’t come up in a search for “theme” or “dark” or “light” or “ponies”.

When I DO remember to set it, I have a dark theme called “Douce nuit 4” which I cannot remember if I installed or it’s part of BBEdit defaults. It’s a slate grey background but the colors of the various text in HTML are prominent. I modified the highlight and insertion point settings

Generally speaking, I much prefer a dark background on any screen device, but there are enough issues with Mojave’s dark mode that I often switch back to the regular one.
