Subject: Facilitation Training Sunday

Do you participate in co-op discussions? Are you an iDLEC, new member trainer or all-OSCA staff member for next semester? Do you want to be a DLEC or Board Rep? Do you ever facilitate meetings for other groups? Do you go to meetings for other groups sometimes? Might you ever consider potentially being a DLEC, iDLEC, Board Rep, or New Member Trainer in the future? Do you want to know more about facilitation, either to facilitate discussions or be a more informed participant in discussions or to help create good community dynamics?

If you answered yes or thought about answering yes to any of the above questions, you should come to a facilitation that is being put on by NASCO (the North American Student Cooperative Association).

It will be this Sunday, May 12th in Wilder 115, and you'll learn about facilitation nuts & bolts, techniques, creating expectations and sticking to them, and nurturing egalitarian spaces. The training will be somewhat tailored to whatever questions/interests/needs participants express, working on concrete solutions. The training will run 2-3 hours.

The trainer is Farheen Hakeem who is an Oberlin Alum, a former member of Third World Co-op, an educator, and a public speaker, who has worked in cooperatives and done many trainings at various schools, non-profits, and conferences such as National Organization for Women and Creating Change.

We know that this timing is non-ideal and hope to offer more events and trainings like this in the future. If you have any questions, get in touch with me, Sara Harris, or Paul DeRonne.

DLECs please forward to your co-ops.
