Dear Brooklyn Bridge CSA-ers -
As you may know, the Brooklyn Bridge CSA is a project of Pursue: Action for a Just World. I hope that most of you are planning on joining the CSA again this year – the deadline to register is April 17, at our Meet the Farmer Event. Shares are selling fast so don’t miss your chance!
In the meantime, I’m writing from Pursue to give you a heads up about our upcoming Food Justice Passover Seder, happening this Sunday at 6pm (doors at 5:30pm) at Congregation Beth Elohim, in collaboration with our friends at Uri L’Tzedek and Hazon.
It’s going to be a great way and space to connect the dots between the local food movement and food justice issues.
You can find more information below and on our website and you can invite your friends via facebook. We highly encourage pre-registration. I hope to see you there!
Warmly,
Audrey
Food Justice Seder!
Join Pursue,
Uri L’Tzedek, and Hazon for the first ever NY Food Justice Seder!
As Passover draws near and we begin thinking about age-old themes of slavery and liberation, we’ll gather to connect the dots between contemporary food justice issues and the retelling of our Exodus story.
Date: Sunday, April 10th
Time: 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and the program will begin at 6:00 p.m. sharp.
Location: Congregation Beth Elohim @ 274 Garfield Place, Brooklyn NY (map)
Cost: $18 in advance, $20 at the door. This is a 21+ event.
To RSVP: Visit http://www.pursueaction.org/food-justice-seder/. Pre-registration is highly encouraged.
To BRING: Chametz! Whether or not you were planning on cleaning your home before Passover, instead of discarding your chametz / leaven (what’s that?), please bring it with you to the Seder for our collection. You can also bring any other non-perishables that your heart desires (anything unopened and sealed). We will be donating the collected goods to the West Side Campaign Against Hunger. So if you have unopened fancy pasta or bags of legumes or boxes of crackers - whether you would have thrown them out or not - bring them with you to the Seder and help us provide a meaningful contribution to an organization doing good work in the fight against hunger.
The event will feature:
· Opportunities to connect with inspiring food justice campaigns;
· Space for conversation connecting the Seder themes to food justice;
· Re-imagined rituals to highlight food justice issues;
· Delicious, Tav HaYosher certified food;
· Readings from Uri L’Tzedek’s newly released Food and Justice Haggadah Supplement;
· Awesome people (such as you!).
This event is brought to you by Pursue, Uri L’Tzedek, and Hazon and is co-sponsored by Congregation Beth Elohim / Brooklyn Jews.
