BBCh 13 - Race #5 - kickoff

Hey folks,

Will be great if we can decide on a location for the crit earlier than later so that permissions are not an issue.

Modi - can you be able to kick off conversations with Manyata via email?

Vasu - can you check with Aditya about the Airforce base?

Suraj - can you check with Jaideep Singh?

Anyone else with good recommendations for a kickass route this race?

Anyone here who is interested in handling media for BBCh? Basically figure out how we can showcase BBCh to all the bikers/non-bikers across the state.

Hello All,

With respect to reaching out to non-bikers and probably bikers, I was thinking we can get BBCh events listed on buzzitown.com and any other website dedicated for events.

In addition, there is an event, Go Cycling Go Green( http://www.buzzintown.com/bangalore/event--buzzintown-presents-go-cycling-go-green-vol-3/id--782283.html) happening on 1st June. Getting showcased in that event should help reaching out to people.

If we decide to go ahead and showcase BBCh there, I strongly suggest we have a separate event for folks who are new to cycling/racing so that they don't feel left out amongst the pros. They are motivated and come back for other races.
I know there will be plenty of challenges to have another category in the race but what's fun without challenges? :-)

I would like to be part of the media but not out-and-out. As one of the facilitators.

I suggest you guys to fix the venue asap and start talking about it. I guess last race the participation was low due to this reason.

Could be. But there is no denying that like Modi said, more info about the race venue, distance etc will help rider preparation as well as participation.

We are trying with media at the moment and we have few folks (BBCh Santosh, TFN Deepak and Rolling Shutterz Deepthi) who are trying to get us a break in the media with regular BBCh coverage.

Tracking BBCh June - Race venue. 

Where is whoever else who is working on this? 

I am working with Aditya Yadav on this one. 

My progress is - 

pros: would be good to have an awesome location for the races

cons: a) limited photography only. b) all non-indian passport holders would need to fill a form (which allegedly has mmuullttiippllee fields). 

I will let folks know latest by Fri if this is happening or not happening. 

Lets not put all bets on the same dice.. would like to know the progress of the other teams working on the race venue. 

Even if you have done absolutely nothing, please reply to this email and let everyone know.

Media front:

Can one of you help me provide contact at Go Cycling Go Green?
Its effective and efficient when there is some reference to get things moving and feature BBCh during their 1st June event.

Once you help me with the contact I will determine how many participants have registered and based on that number I will plan how to bring awareness amongst the participants about BBCh.

If you have any other plans, please let me know and I will implement them too.

Did we finalise on the race venue? Manyata will be good right? Last time the support from security staff was also good. It becomes easier on the volunteers as well.

Update : 

Media: I am shooting emails out to the list of contacts I have .. I am hoping atleast few of them publish about the race .. hiccup is dat the listings are usually published on the day of the event which means it would only be seen by a few.. next race on we should see if we can get a press release about the race a few days ahead of the race..

I posted the event on AskLaila who published it n Bangalore Burrp's events this week listing (they chose not to publish it no clue why) ...  just so it shows up when ppl look for outdoor/sports events in bangalore... 

@ Ajit: Buzzintown.. I know someone in the team. I will try to get that info.. not sure if they will share it though mail ids/contact info of participants can be personal info.. :( .. Another race/event for the newbies hmm ... Easier thing would be to connect via their FB group etc.. definitely a good idea though... 

Post Race: We need a short write up on the race so we can send it to the press.. We tried the same last month  thanks to Venky who gave us an awesome writeup but noone from the media reacted .. Lets hope we can reach to more supportive media houses this month...
