Hi Suman,

Thank you for the feedback. We continue to investigate the bugs you
have logged. There are planned improvements tied to the user experience
of the responsiveness of the screen reader targeted for the next
software release slated for later this year.

Regards,
Rose

Subject: Re: screenreader on q10 became useless after updateing to 10.3.1

Hi rose
I have tested screen reader on some apps.
Here is my feebback
1.blackberry hub. Not up to the mark it was fare in 10.2.
2.BBM became worst in 10.3.1. cant access contacts and scrolling is not
possible while reading the messages. The phone chacks some times and I
have to restart the phone to get it back working.
3.whats app was all ok in 10.2. it is a trouble reading messages in 10.3.1.
4.reading texts was just super in 10.2. it is a mess in 10.3.1. the text
navigation trick is not easy to use while chatting.
5.contacts app is not good with the screen reader. The words keeps
reputing. This app was great in 10.2.
6.blackberry assistants is not useable.
7.the screen reader takes long time to speak after switching on the
phone. It was not a problem in 10.2.
8.facebook app is not accessible.
9.browser is not accessible.
10. the p and n keys you subjected is not much helpful. It is scrolling
many pages up and down.
11.can not listen to the letters while hitting backspace key on the
keyboard. It was not an issue in 10.2.
12.the phone is slow with the screen reader on 10.3.
Can you plz let me know how long it may take to fix this problems and
come out with an future release?
Wishes

> 4. Scrolling within screen reader settings page - We have been successful in reproducing the issue you describe. Scrolling is dependent on the item that is the point of regard. The screen reader settings page has switches, sliders, descriptions and drops downs. If the point of regard is set on a descriptor (i.e. "Show a message to confirm that you want to turn on the BlackBerry Screen Reader") scrolling does not work. Recommend you try changing the point of regard to retest the scrolling feature. You can use the swipe right gesture to move to the next item and then try scrolling.

> 6. Deleted letters not being read when typing text - Can you advise what setting you are using for "Keyboard echo"? We were able to reproduce the issue described if the keyboard echo was set to "words". Changing the setting to "characters" or "characters and words" resolved the issue.

>>
>> 1. Screen reader lag - You have indicated that the lag problem is ok after the phone restart. Can you confirm the 5-10 second lag has disappeared? Is the change attributed to the phone restart or was the lag issue resolved by restarting the screen reader? Any details you can provide to help us reproduce this issue internally to resolve and close the issue would be helpful.
>> 2. Reading text messages - We were able to reproduce this issue internally. We recommend trying the following: double tap with two fingers (to enter text navigation mode), swipe up to increase the text chunk size (currently on word) and then double tap with two fingers (to exit text navigation mode).
>> 3. Whats App - We have logged this issue for further investigation.
>> 4. Scrolling speed - We are currently investigating the speed of the scroll function. To assist you with scrolling for the time being, use N to scroll a page down and P to scroll a page up. There will be no feedback indicating that the page has scrolled but you can use touch and explore to set the point of regard to a new item.
>> 5. Scrolling in accessibility menu - We have been unsuccessful in reproducing this issue. When tested internally, scrolling does travel down the page although the point of regard did not update with the scroll. This issue has been logged and we are working to resolve it for a future release.
>> 6. Ending a call - We were successful in ending incoming or active calls using a two finger double tap and hold. The calls ended upon release (i.e. once fingers were lifted off screen). Can you provide more details regarding the instances in which you noted this bug. Are you on the call for a period of time before hanging up? Are you using a headset or holding the phone to your ear?
>> 7. Deleted letters not being read when typing text - We were unable to reproduce this issue. Can you provide additional details of when and which screens you were experiencing this issue?
>> 8. Shortcuts and speed dial - Settings screen was tested to be accessible. The bug linked to the shortcuts has been logged for further investigation.
>> 9. Weather App - This is a known issue we are working to resolve in a future release.
>> 10. Screen Reader Voice - The TTS engine was upgraded for 10.3.
