Hi Loreal, and anyone else using Blackberry screen reader,

Has anyone found a way to know the number or name of a caller before answering a call?

Regards,

Stuart.

There is an application called Caller ID Reader from ISpeech I believe.  I've got it on my blackberry, having been able to put it on since I had purchased it 2 years ago when I had my old blackberry.  You'll want the Pro version which is $9.99 I believe.
Hope this helps!

Thanks Loreal. I will talk to Rim about this, because really something as basic as reading a caller ID should be a function of the screen reader, and I'm sure they can implement that over time.

Hello Stuart and others,

It's my first post here! As far as I know, if you press the Right Convenience Key while the ringtone is playing you can hear the caller ID. It reads the phone number if you don't have the contact in your agenda, or the name if you have it.

Cheers,

Thank you Anavas, that keystroke does indeed work, to read the caller ID, no need to purchase an app now.

Stuart.

That is a rather neat feature. Let's hope they make it a "checkbox" too...
that you can set for automatic announcement.
