Ekkees baras guzre azadi-e- kaamil ko
Tab jaa ke kahiN hum ko Ghalib ka khayal aaya 

 اکیس برس گزرے آزادی کامل کو

تب جاکے کہیں ہم کو غالب کا خیال آیا

 

Turbat thi kahaN uski maskan tha kahaN uska
Ab apne sukhan parwar zehno-n men sawal aaya

 تربت تھی کہاں اسکی مسکن تھا کہاں اسکا

اب اپنے سخن پرور ذہنوں میں سوال آیا

Sau saal se jo turbat chaadar ko tarasti thi
Ab uspe aqeedat ke phoolo-n ki numayish hai

سو سال سے تربت جو چادر کو ترستی تھی

اب اس پہ عقیدت کے پھولوں کی نمائش ہے 

Urdu ke taa'luq se kuchh bhed nahiN khulta
Yeh jashn ye hungama khidmat hai ke saazish hai

اردو کے تعلّق سے کچھ بھید نہیں کھلتا

یہ جشن یہ ہنگامہ خدمت ہے کے سازش ہے 

Jin shehro-n men goonji thi Ghalib ki nava barso-n
Un shehro-n men ab Urdu be-naam-o-nisha-n thehri

جن شہروں میں گونجی تھی غالب کی نوا برسوں

ان شہروں میں اب اردو بے نام.و.نشان ٹھہری

Aazadi-e-kaamil ka Elan hua jis din
Maa'toob zaba-n thehri Ghaddar zaba-n thehri 

آزادی کامل کا اعلان ہوا جس دن

معتوب زباں ٹھہری غدّار زباں ٹھہری


Jis ehd-e-siyasat ne yeh zinda zaba-n kuchli
Us ehd-e-siyasat ko marhoomo-n ka gham kyun hai

 جس عہد سیاست نے یہ زندہ زباں کچلی

اس عہد سیاست کو مرحوموں کا غم کیوں ہے

Ghalib jise kehte hain Urdu hi ka shayer tha
Urdu pe sitam dhaa ke Ghalib pe karam kyun

غالب جسے کہتے ہیں اردو کا ہی شاعر تھا

اردو پہ ستم ڈھاکے غالب پہ کرم کیوں ہے 

Yeh jashn ye hungaame dilchasp khilone haiN
Kuchh logo-n ki khuwahish hai kuchh log bahel jaaye-n

 یہ جشن یہ ہنگامہ دلچسپ کھلونے ہیں

کچھ لوگوں کی خواھش ہے کچھ لوگ بھل جائیں

Jo vaada-e-farda par ab tal nahin sakte hain
Mumkin hai keh kuchh arsa is jashn pe tal jaayen

جو وعدہ فردا پہ اب ٹل نہیں سکتے ہیں

ممکن ہے کہ کچھ عرصے اس جشن پہ ٹل جائیں

Yeh jashn mubarak ho par yeh bhi sadaqat hai
Hum log haqeeqat ke ehsaas se a'ari haiN

یہ جشن مبارک ہو پر یہ بھی صداقت ہے

ہم لوگ حقیقت کے احساس سے عاری ہیں



Gandhi ho ki Ghalib ho insaaf ki nazro-n men
Hum dono-n ke qaatil hain dono-n ke pujari haiN

گاندھی ہوں کہ غالب ہوں انصاف کی نظروں میں

ہم دونوں کے قاتل ہیں دونوں کے پجاری ہیں

very interesting, sohail raza sahab. just one observation. i once worked in saudi arabia on an ARAMCO supervised gas liquification project. the construction company i worked for was an american construction company. it received equipment such as light, medium and heavy cranes and many more construction equipments. it marked them with ARAMCO given numbers. a mistake was made here. the english words and figures had been placed on top and the arabic below it. it brought a strong reaction from the government. the format was changed. arabic on top and english below it. thought i would just mention that.

Dear Urdu Lovers - Salam,

  • @ Javaid Sb., I have passed through that mistake of Aramco - Arabic below English, however, it is very common in Gulf. In my neighbourhood one furniture showroom has English version originally from Arabic appeared 'Al Afif Furniture Brothers. One Pakistani Restaurant is named 'Al Jamil's in English. I would have not noticed but you know our kids! My 10th standard one smiled & pointed out.
  • @Kamran Sb. - This is the saga and what Sahir lamented in his 'Nazm' is reflected here that one of my forum friends knowingly wrote in English that a very few know Urdu now. He send Sahir's Nazm to his another Urdu Shayer friend Javaid Badayuni so immediately he pasted the stanzas after stanzas below English.
  • @ Timesmedia - now the situation is different. The Urdu is used as 'prostitutes' in Assembly and Parliament to reply befittingly and wittingly on their opponents. But from the same podium they don't do any good for Urdu. Even the Urdu hostile English and Hindi media, most of the times seems handicapped so they take Urdu as Crux.  
Finally, what will you say on one of my forum friends who commented Ghalib was not a good person and he was opportunist as during last days of Bahadur Shah Zafar, Ghalibs distance from him. My response was like below as posted in commas'
  
"Here Ghalib's Islam Pasandi or Deen-bezari  or he possessing a good character is not the topic.

Beyond doubt, he is one of the greatest poet, not in Urdu yet in all other lingua franca.

It was the what the issue of duplicitous  & hypoactive approached that first they strangulate Urdu after the country wins Independence and then in electorate democracy whenever elections comes closer they woo Muslims with some sops of no worth other than trying to do such gimmick what Indira Gandhi, the then Prime Minister
of India was doing to attend the Ghalib's Centenary.  

And it was a Communist Sahir Ludhianvi and not a bearded Muslim 'Leader' who unfolded the truth brazenly on the eve.

The pity irony rolls on even today. Promises over promissory to restore Urdu, reservation to Muslims. Now arrest the 'home-grown' well educated, professionally qualified 'terrorists' operatives of cross border countries. Muslim boys seems much greedy  of acquiring better perk so they switch over for it.  The greatest paradox of our time that that our boys weed out see better careers, futures and 'pride' to Muslim community in general and 'grace' to their family in particular"??????

There are a few mistakes in the poem which can be corrected as foolows:
Couplet 2 Line 1: Turbat hai instead of Turbat thi
C          3 L     1: Sau saal se jo turbat instead of sau saal se turbat jo
C          4 L     2: Keh (Kaaf and he) saazish hai instead of Ke (Kaaf and Ye) saazish hai
C          8 L     2: Urdu pe sitam dha kar instead of Urdu pe sitam dha ke
C          9 L     1: Ye jashn ye hungame instead of Ye jashn ye hungama
C         10 L    1: Jo waada-e-farda par instead of Jo waada-e-farda pe
C         10 L    2: Mumkin hai ki kuchch arsa instead of Mumkin hai kuchch arse
C         12 L    1: Gandhi ho ki Ghalib ho instead of Gandhi hon ki Ghalib hon
