Dear Friends at WAY:
A year from now, the governments of the world will gather in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to mark the 20th Anniversary of the Rio Earth Summit of 1992. There is much to celebrate: through the efforts of many civil society organisations and some governments, the world has made big strides towards a more sustainable human society.
However, only a fool would think that we have done anything like enough: with Peak Oil now past, and Peak Coal and Gas bearing down upon us, the young generation have to recognise that the era of prosperity powered by fossil fuels is now past, and that we have to start building the Green Economy NOW if we are to have any chance of living in any degree of comfort and prosperity in the second half of our lives.
Therefore, I urge you to read the attached material and join us on the Road to Rio+20 and help us create a massive, youth-led global mobilisation which will deliver brilliant results at Rio: (www.roadtorioplus20.org)
