HiSimon,

Whay happens if the APN settings are set to auto?

Are you sure the APN settings are correct? Google searches show the following APN settings for vodafone Germany.

APN settings

username: vodafone

password: vodafone

APN name: web.vodafone.de

APN WebSessions: event.vodafone.de

I tried all known settings for the APN. Here the link to the settings for my SIM-Provider (in german) -richte-ich-das-mediapad-ein-um-mit-der-prosieben-sim-karte-zu-surfen

I never got a Internetconnection.

Hi Simon,

I would suggest the next step is for you tolog a ticketwith engineering.

They will be able to review the diagnostic file and see if there is any indication as to the cause of the problem there.

Hi - I have been trying to set up a Go camera, model VML4030-100UKS/PES with a Vodafone V-sim in the UK. Should this work or do I need a Vodafone-specific camera? The APN details supplied by Vodafone (ciot.vodafone.com) don't seem to make any difference. I found other settings (wap.vodafone.com) which at least allows the QR code to be read (I hear the chime) but the camera still cannot be discovered. Vodafone support confirm that the sim is connected and working and in a good coverage area but aren't really able to offer any other help other than what is in the online help. Thanks.

For personalized support specific to the Arlo products you own, access Support from within the Arlo iOS or Android App. Simply login to your Arlo App, go to Settings, Support, then select the Arlo product you would like support for.

Hi,

I have a Vodafone broadband which I would like to connect to my openwrt router. How to configure WAN interface with username and login provided from Vodafone?

It's Fiber connection small box on the wall which is connected to Vodafone router to WAN port via ethernet cable.

For my config I want to connect this fibre box to my OpenWrt router to eth1.

Any help, please ?

There is yet another way ISPs identify/authenticate the router.

You select connection as DHCP and when you start browsing they redirect you to their login page where you enter username/password and then your router's mac is registered with ISP.
You probably need to use an specific VLAN on the WAN
@wisnia2 check your Vodafone router and see the configurations there (or ask Vodafone if you think they don't mind you using a third-party router).

You can create a vlan, you just need to know the number to tag the data. Contact Vodafone and ask for the settings. I am in Italy and operators are obliged to release their credentials to their users and all the settings to use a modem other than that of the ISP.

I've spoken today with Vodafone support and the confirmed that Vlan is 101 and I should use pppoe configuration.

Where should I put this vlan number ?

Could you please send me a sample of WAN interface with this info if possible?

Is pppoe has any vlan option where I could put 101 ?

Just got connected to Vodafone broadband (UK) today, I didn't need to add any Vlan 101, I left the WAN default option that came with my initial OpenWRT install : option ifname 'eth1.2'

I also deleted the WAN6.

Like the OP, I have an OpenReach modem (the small box?).

Do you have a fibre gigafast vodafone broadband ? I mean do you have an extra small box (fibre box) at home on the wall ? I ask to be sure we have the same solution. I connect ethernet cable from that small fibre box to my openwrt router. Do you have the same ?

Did you restart that box before you connect your own router ?

The 3 lines about DNS where added when I configured a VPN client on the router. These 3 lines are not needed if you don't use a VPN client. Just make sure that you at least tick "Use DNS servers advertised by peer" in Network > Interfaces > WAN > Advanced Settings.

Up until yesterday, I was with EE Broadband and things worked in similar fashion.

Maybe in my case the Vlan 101 is set at modem level..?

My setting is different from yours, so I don't know if this will help you in the end. But at least this could help someone else. I scratched my head for a while yesterday trying to figure out how to set this up!

These steps should configure your APN settings for Vodafone UK on your iPhone or Android device. If you continue to experience issues with your network connection, you may need to contact Vodafone UK customer support for further assistance.

The APN (Access Point Name) settings need to be correctly set up on your phone, tablet or modem to access the internet on the Vodafone network. This includes sending and receiving picture messages and emails on your device.

It currently seems to connect sometimes, without me changing any settings. This appears to be caused by the antenna, maybe it's not functioning correctly, since an Android Tablet is able to connect reliably and I'm assuming the antenna in this tablet should generally be worse than the antenna in the Nighthawk. We're going to contact the refurbished-seller we bought the device from.

The point is, I don't think this is an issue that can be fixed by changing a setting.

Hi I have an Orbi RBK50 (AC3000) bought in 2018. It has been working happily with my plusnet router since then. However, I have now changed to vodaphone and have had problems connecting the new vodafone router to the Orbi. To make matters worse, I havent been able to get into the Orbi settings on my computer to look at them and be able to change them; 'admin' (username) and 'password' (password) dont allow me in and there is no option to reset. I have connected the Orbi and vodaphone router by ethernet and they both apprear to be working as routers. Please help!

The reason that "admin" and "password" are not working is probably that the administrative password was changed during setup in 2018. (The setup process is pretty demanding about the user picking something more secure than "password".)

Orbi provides a "password recovery" capability. (I have used it myself.) Just enter the password incorrectly several times and a box will pop up asking if you want to recover the password. Alas, this feature depends on the user having entered answers to some security questions at the time the router was originally set up (and answering them correctly during reovery). There is no penalty for trying. It might work for you.

The reset process on the router is not complicated. On the back, there is a tiny hole labelled "reset". Stick the end of a paperclip into the hole and press until the LED above the Power button turns from green to amber and then begins to flash. This can take 10-15 seconds. At this point, the router has been set "back to factory". It remembers nothing about the previous configuration. Not the password, not any devices that were assigned IP addresses.... nothing. The administrative user name is "admin" and the password is "password." The WiFi name and password are printed on a label on the router. If the router WiFi name had been changed during setup, then no devices will connect to it until (a) they are reset to the names on the label, or (b) the router is set up and given exactly the same WiFi name and password as it had before.

You are correct that it is better to have only a single "router". What a lot of people do is contact the ISP support desk and ask them to put the Vodaphone in "bridge" or "passthrough" mode so that it is no longer routing (and also no longer broadcasting WiFi).

Modem Combo Units:

This would be a double NAT condition which isn't recommended. -is-Double-NAT

Couple of options,

1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.

2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.

3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. -do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and =H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop

Thanks very much for your response. I have contacted vodafone, who advise that they router cant be used in bridge mode. So, I have follwed your guidance and have put the orbi in AP mode. To change double NAT, I now need to change the settings on the vodafone router. I attach screenshots of the wifi settings, and get a warning to turn these off - please can I check which settings I should use with the orbi in AP mode?

Our system automatically sends the proper settings to the devices that support the feature. When you've made your first phonecall using the device (on our network) we will send you the settings. This applies only to devices using a Vodafone Iceland SIM (does not apply to users roaming into our network).

Once the new settings have been entered, it is important to restart the device and make the new settings active. Remove the battery to make sure the device is fully rebooted, if the battery can not be removed have the device turned off for at least one minute. Make sure to activate the new settings.
