In recent years, admission to the University of California system has become increasingly competitive, especially for students applying to STEM majors.

SpringLight has a strong history of helping students gain admission to every UC campus. Each year, many SpringLight students are admitted to highly selective programs such as the Berkeley Management, Entrepreneurship, & Technology Program, the UCSB College of Creative Studies, and prestigious honors and scholarship programs, including Regents Scholarships. Some students have even received admission offers from all nine undergraduate UC campuses.

Notably, more than half of SpringLight students with unweighted GPAs between 3.5 and 4.0 have earned admission to the system's most selective campuses, University of California, Berkeley and University of California, Los Angeles.

Join SpringLight's Senior College Counselor, Ms. Cindy Zhao, as she shares valuable insights into the UC admissions process, including:

  • What UC admissions officers look for in successful applicants
  • How students can distinguish themselves in an increasingly competitive applicant pool
  • How to effectively communicate passion, character, and personality through the application
  • Key differences among UC campuses and their admissions priorities
  • How admissions officers evaluate academic and extracurricular achievements
  • How the UC system calculates GPA
  • The impact of major selection on admission chances
  • Strategies for highlighting unique strengths, experiences, and personal qualities
  • The latest UC policies regarding standardized testing
  • How Personal Insight Questions (PIQs) are evaluated
  • How to choose the most effective PIQ prompts based on a student's background and experiences
  • The role of extracurricular activities, leadership, service, and initiative in admissions
  • And much more

Whether you're just beginning your college planning journey or preparing to submit your UC application this fall, this workshop will provide practical strategies and insider insights to help you maximize your opportunities.
