The Sir Isaac Newton (SIN) Exam is a test of high school physics and is offered by the Department of Physics & Astronomy at the University of Waterloo. This is an international exam with participants from across Canada, the United States and around the world. All participants are eligible for a certificate from the University of Waterloo. Prizes or certificates are given to the top performers.The test is written online under local school supervision during a two-hour period.
The SIN Exam is meant to challenge the best students to apply basic physics in problem situations. This test is available to students in any grade. Results will be computer-processed, with top performers hand-marked to select SIN scholarship winners and high-achiever awards.
