Parent surveys play an important role in helping school counselors write strong and personal recommendation letters for college applications.
To support parents in completing these surveys effectively, we will host a short workshop on how to write thoughtful and meaningful responses that strengthen a student’s recommendation letter.

Our presenter, Mr. Chen, will share insights from his family’s experience. After his son was admitted to Stanford University (high school class of 2026), the admissions office even sent a postcard highlighting specific parts of the school recommendation letter that stood out as especially impressive.

What will be covered in the workshop:
  • How parent surveys are used by school counselors to write personalized and compelling recommendation letters
  • How colleges use counselor recommendation as part of holistic admissions, and what admissions officers look for
  • Real examples from family's experiences and what made their responses stand out
  • Reflections on the best choices and key lessons throughout the college application process
What parents will get out of this workshop:
  • How to write thoughtful and meaningful responses that strengthen your child's recommendation letter
  • How to capture your child's full story: character, growth, and family background — beyond grades and activities
  • A deeper understanding of what school counselors need from parents to advocate effectively for your child
  • Examples of strong parent survey responses and mistakes to avoid
For Whom: Parents of High School Students
