.... I think it was the intensive training with Dr. Yang's unique way of coaching that revived my son's enthusiasm in Physics once again. During the camp training, he was eager to go to the class everyday, which is not like his usual slow-pace for other activities. In the car, he would think about some of his unsolved issues and questions to ask Dr. Yang; on the way back from class, he sometimes mentioned joyfully that Dr. Yang had told him he has good fundamental knowledge, or that he has the potential as long as he would be willing to work harder. These kinds of encouragement from Dr. Yang made my son very excited and he was willing to stay up late to solve more problems and bring more questions back to Dr. Yang the second day. I could see it was a very positive cycle of learning and digesting materials.

This USAPhO F=ma Camp is specially organized to intensely train students for the F=ma test in January 2020, providing a total of 20 practice tests combined with lectures after each test.
In the first session of each camp day, students will work on one previous real F=ma test, followed by the second session, a lecture about the difficult and confusing problems in the test. The instructor will also emphasize some important knowledge and concepts related to the test.
In the third session, the students will work on a simulated F=ma test, which is compiled by the instructor from the past F=ma tests and other related resources, followed by another lecture session.
All of these teaching efforts will help the students undergo intense practice on the F=ma test, combined with lectures to help students understand physics concepts in depth and effectively improve their abilities to solve F=ma problems. Through this class, students can maximize their chances of success on the F=ma test next January.

We only have one session for Mechanics because students are already quite familiar with mechanics topics when preparing for the F=ma test, and correspondingly, we will also assign harder reference books for Mechanics than other topics.
To help students fully understand the topic, we will instruct students on the following procedures。
Pre-class reading materials (need finish before the class)
Warm-up practices (need finish before the class)
Lectures (during the class)
Homework (need finish after the class)
Through these ten sessions of intense trainings, students may obtain the necessary knowledge and skills to achieve a good score on their USAPhO Semi-final examinations.

Dr. Chunlai Yang graduated from Peking University (B.S. and M.S. in physics) and Boston College (Ph.D. in Physics). He used to teach in the Physics departments of Peking University and Boston College. When Dr. Yang taught physics at Peking University, he received the ”Excellent Young Teacher Award”. While working at Boston College, Dr. Yang received the “Teaching Excellence Award”, and also co-authored the textbook Introductory Physics Laboratory Manual with George Goldsmith. In recent years, Dr. Yang has devoted himself full time to tutor high school students. He teaches physics competition training classes, and instructs students in various physics courses. His teaching is lucid: concepts are clearly identified and easily understood, with strong logicality. Many of Dr. Yang’s students have made distinguished performances in math and physics competitions and have achieved excellence in their school courses, which has effectively increased the opportunities for these students to be admitted into top universities. His own child was accepted into the U.S. Olympiad Physics Team, admitted to Harvard, Princeton and other top universities, graduated from Harvard University, and is now continuing at Stanford Medical School.

- Students must be either U.S. citizens, legal permanent residents of the United States (green card holders), or currently attending a U.S. school to participate in the F=ma exam.
- Students must be either U.S. citizens, or legal permanent residents of the United States (green card holders), to take the USAPhO exam.
- The F=ma A and F=ma B are designed to cover the same topics and have the same difficulty, but will have different questions.
- Students may take both F=ma A & B exams, but they must meet or exceed the cutoff score for both exams to move on to the USAPhO exam. There is no benefit for students to take both exams.
