In today's competitive college admissions landscape, biology has become one of the most important core academic subjects. Admissions officers pay close attention to students' performance in rigorous science courses such as biology, as they demonstrate academic preparedness, critical thinking, and intellectual engagement. Whether pursuing STEM, business, social sciences, or the humanities, students benefit from the analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and scientific literacy that biology develops.

But many students and parents have important questions:

  • How can students develop a genuine interest in biology?
  • Which biology courses at school and SpringLight are the best fit for their goals and experience level?
  • How can students effectively prepare for high school biology classes, AP Biology, and competitions such as the USABO?
  • How can biology and biological research open doors to opportunities in computer science, data science, engineering, medicine, and other fields?
  • What do colleges look for in applicants interested in biology, life sciences, or pre-med pathways?

Join us for a free seminar with Mrs. Webster, SpringLight's Biology Program Director, as she answers these questions and provides an overview of our biology curriculum, competition training, and research preparation programs.

Over the past decade, Mrs. Webster has helped hundreds of students achieve a wide range of goals:

✓ Students who initially enrolled simply to improve their grades discovered a genuine passion for biology.
✓ Students seeking academic support gained the deep understanding needed to excel in school and on exams.
✓ Most of our students earn a score of 5 on the AP Biology Exam, including many freshmen and self-studying students.
✓ Students interested in competitions receive the training needed to succeed. Every year, SpringLight students qualify as USABO Semifinalists, and many advance to become USABO Finalists—among the top 20 biology students in the nation.
✓ Students pursuing research, internships, and science fairs develop the skills necessary to conduct meaningful research and achieve success in competitions and academic projects.

We are especially proud of our students' accomplishments in AP Biology and the USABO. Approximately 30% of Mrs. Webster's students become USABO Semifinalists or Finalists, including many students taking advanced biology for the first time in 9th grade.

Our students consistently rank among the nation's top competitors. In recent years, SpringLight has produced multiple USABO Finalists, including one in 2025, two in 2024, four in 2023, and five in 2021. In 2026, two of our students have once again achieved Finalist status. In addition, the vast majority of our AP Biology students earn a score of 5, reflecting the rigor and effectiveness of our program.

Register today and learn how biology can become a powerful foundation for academic success, research opportunities, and future career exploration.

SpringLight Education consistently sees outstanding results in both the USABO and AP Biology. Each year, about 30% of Mrs. Webster’s students become USABO Semifinalists or Finalists—even those taking the course for the first time in 9th grade.

Our students regularly advance to the top ranks of the competition, with Finalists placing among the top 20 students in the nation nearly every year. In recent years, we’ve had multiple Finalists, including one in 2025, two in 2024, four in 2023, and five in 2021. This year (2026), 2 of our students has again achieved Finalist status. In addition to their USABO success, most of our students also score a 5 on the AP Biology exam, reflecting the program’s academic strength and depth.
