I've been looking at the new Preview of Windows 8. I see again that
windows has borrow (intentionally or unintentionally) ideas from
SlickRun, but still manages to leave out the details that keep me
running SlickRun (notably Jot, magicwords, and an always-on-the-screen
view). Besides the inconvenience of having to choose a new hotkey for
launching SlickRun, windows has taken for itself my treasured Jot
hotkey. If someone knows how to resolve the Jot hotkey (WIN+J),
please share.

I also want to know if there is a "super" on-top option I can plug in
to keep SlickRun on above the Metro interface.

if any of you have any tips you can provide as to how you are handling
the transition, I would greatly appreciate it. I'm still struggling.

Unfortunately, no, I haven't done any of the hacks required to steal SlickRun's hotkeys back or get it to float over the Metro-interface; the latter, in particular, is something that would be quite difficult to accomplish.

Having said that, I do hope to get around to some Win8-specific work for SlickRun over the next few months.
