Subject: LANDLINES ARE LIFELINES! Please join calling action this Thursday June 11

🚩THE CPUC NEEDS OUR SUPPORT TO STAND FIRM AGAINST AT&T'S ESCALATED ATTACK ON RELIABLE TELEPHONE SERVICE

While our CPUC continues its well-structured, fair, responsible Rulemaking proceedings onĀ COLRĀ (Carrier of Last Resort), AT&T has ramped up its assault on CPUC strength, putting Californians at risk. AT&T has submitted legislation that wouldĀ allow it to halt Basic Service to residents and businesses. AT&T has filed multiple petitions with the FCC in order to avoid its obligations. AT&T has sued the CPUC and CA attorney general. AT&T has pushed a measure through the CA assembly that promotes a statewide ballot measure designed to amend the state Constitution(!) in order to bypass essentialĀ CPUC regulatory functions.Ā

We can and should applaud the firm stand CPUC commissioners are takingĀ  and cheerĀ them on!šŸ“¢Ā Here's how:

Please call in to the 11:00 a.m. Thursday June 11 CPUC meeting in SacramentoĀ

(Held this month at Personnel Board Auditorium, 801 Capitol Mall, Sacramento, CA 95814)

The CPUC welcomes public comment (of up to one minute)Ā by phoneĀ (or in-person) at the start of its regular business meetings. Yes, ONE minute.

Ā

šŸ“žĀ It's wiseĀ to call in 10 minutes or moreĀ beforeĀ 11 a.m. so you get a place "in line" and become one of the first callers to speak after 11:00. In-person comments are taken first, so there may be some wait time.

•    English Phone: 1-800-857-1917, passcode: 9899501#

•    Spanish Phone: 1-800-857-1917, passcode: 3799627#

Ā

Please use your oneĀ minuteĀ to thank the Commission for holding firm/standing strong against AT&T, and for conducting (thorough, comprehensive, fair, careful, well-structured, productive, competent) Rulemaking Proceedings on the Carrier of Last Resort issue. Remind themĀ how landline loss or degradation would affect (or already has affected) your life or that of family, neighbors, friends, community.

!! No matter what type of phone one prefers, this action is about preserving the right to established choice and protections.Ā

SeeĀ https://savelandlines.org/the-issues/

šŸ•šPlease respect the one-minute limit atĀ Thursday's call-in! Honoring this limit is a courtesy to Commissioners, staff and other callers.

INSTRUCTIONS

• Dial 1-800-857-1917Ā and enter the passcode indicated above. To make a public comment, unmute your phone, and press *1 (star one) when prompted by the operator. Once you press *1 you will be prompted to state your name and/or organization; please do so slowly and clearly. As comments proceed, the operator will call on you when it is your turn to speak.

• Wait times depend on the number of speakers in the public comment queue. During times of high call volumes, wait times may be long. The operator will call on you when it is your turn to speak.

•  At the end of the Public Comment Session, the President will ask if there are any additional individuals who wish to speak. Anyone who has already made a public comment may not comment again at the same meeting.

More detailed instructions if needed:Ā https://www.cpuc.ca.gov/events-and-meetings/cpuc-voting-meeting-04-30-26

Please remember:Ā PersonalĀ voiced commentsĀ reach all the commissioners in real time, as well as CPUC staff, plus others in the auditorium (such as AT&T reps), and everyone tuned in online.Ā

Your comments matter!Ā You halted a damaging bill earlier this spring, and in the last three days yourĀ calls and emails have caused the insidious Constitutional amendment measure (ACA-9) to be removed from two Senate committee hearing agendas for this week.

Thank you for taking this important calling action and recruiting others to do so as well.Ā  Ā

Something else to help get the word out about the need to keep our landline service: please contact this reporter if you have experience with AT&T neglecting or refusing landlines, even if you are not in the counties listed below.

From Mon. June 8th edition of Press Democrat:

NorCal AT&T customers, have you experienced landline problems?
The Press Democrat: Monday, June 8, 2026

As AT&T continues its bid to be released from its obligations to provide landline communications in California, we want to hear from customers in Sonoma, Napa, Lake and Mendocino counties about whether the telecommunications giant is maintaining service in the meantime.

Have you found your landline service reliable? Have you experienced more frequent or longer outages? What has been your experience seeking repairs or answers from customer support?

Feel free to share your experience with us by email and let us know if we can be in touch for a follow-up interview.

Email Senior Reporter Marisa Endicott:Ā marisa....@pressdemocrat.comĀ or call 707-521-5470.
