Chess Titans Windows 7 Free Download Full Version

Chess Titans is for beginner, i had an ELO of 1200(well, beginners are like this) and we uses Arpad Elos method, take my challanges between Chess Titans Level 1 AI(I think it got 300). It's for beginner training. Chessmaster is for master's training.(Well, Chess Titans lets you eats his queen in special conditions eg:He eats the eating piece and another piece attacks.)
Chess Titans is OK to play if you want to knock out a few games, but since you have Chessmaster 9000 already, that should be sufficient. I like to play a few games on Chess Titans, but sometimes I get frustrated with it just blundering by giving away pieces here & there or making some other odd move.
I'm about a 1700 ranked player on this site and I can reliably beat the first 8 levels, and usually beat level 9 on Chess Titans. Level 10 is a the only level where I don't win a majority of the time. Maybe that can provide some perspective.
Are you kidding? I love Chess Titans! In fact, it was Titans that got me into chess in the first place, and encouraged me to type "play chess online" into Google and join chess.com! It was life-changing for me (no joke!). I started out playing Titans, struggling against a level 3 (arh, back in the days...)
Anyway, I love the graphics of Titans, but I only really play against level 7/10. Above this level I find too slow (I'm usually in the mood for a blitz against a computer), and I find below this level the computer is too blunderous.
I think it's so funny that at the low levels the game still uses opening theory. This usually makes for games in which the first few moves are stellar and then he starts giving away everything one by one. Always brings a smile to my face.
@ stwils: I'm not saying Titans is awesome, I'm just saying it is the reason I am here today. It has it flaws, mainly in a fairly weak engine, slow moving, unable to offer draws and also unable for the computer to resign in lost postions. It does have the feature of playing person vs person, which is handy without a board.
Granted, it's no longer completely free - though you can still download a demo version which allows you to play 15 minutes against a person. But I believe its price is quite fair for the work I put in it.
Chess Titans end games are suicide...get there and it self-distructs! But the REAL FLAW is that playing white 90% (at least) are queen pawn games. This is kind of nutty. Kinda blows for that reason. Elo is > 1200 i'm thinkin'
The biggest flaw with Chess Titans is its limited depth. Even level 10 makes obvious tactical blunders that indicate only a 6-8 ply search depth. I agree though that it's nice that it comes with the OS.
Comparing Chess Titans to ChessMaster 9000 is like comparing a gnat to an elephant, and that's putting it mildly. CM 9000 is all you need for now and probably a long time to come or until you become a NM or FM. Trust me on this one, the check is in the mail, I won't raise your taxes, ever and seriously, forget you even heard about Chess TItans!
I have both Chess Titans and Chessmaster XI on my computer, and enjoy them both. But you're right, there's really no comparison between the two at all. Chess Titans reminds me of a fancy version of those old simple DOS chess games.
OK - per request I have played some games vs. Level 9. I have had some losses due to stupid moves, which therefore probably are not useful in calculating a playing strength. Here is a win that probably will be useful. I will try it some more, and if I get a draw I will post it.
I will try a draw (is not 2....c6 the Slav? above). Also, I thought that playing Black would be more conducive to draws. However, here is a win with Black. I will continue off and on as time permits and see what happens.
OK - one more. Here I was just shooting from the hip. Slav-ish, several symmetrical moves. But I ended up winning anyway. Rybka assigned significant advantage to Chess Titans up to a point, but then it dropped a piece due to a mating threat. I still was playing more or less instinctively. There were several points in the endgame where I had it in a mate-in-four or mate-in-two, but just didn't see it. This is all I can do for now. Over the next week or so, If I get a draw, or a significant loss (i.e. a loss not due to blunder) I will post it.
It's been brought to my attention that playing gambits might be one of the best ways to test a computer since the games test a computers most natural ability (to calculate) and in the sense giving them minimal odds (fully accepted gambits if not played properly the attack can just run out and be useless) I for one thing think that a lot more moves are forced in gambits so the computer may get a higher matching score with the computer than it normally would . What do you guys think ? Someone has even suggested "artificial odds" blundering certain pawns pieces based off opponents strength and I find this a bit interesting. For one it doesn't have to be a complete blunder for example 1.e4/f5 is considered to be a artificial way of blundering the f-pawn
Chessmaster (and All), i wonder if you can help me solve a problem. I'm an avid chess amateur, and sometimes play Chess Titans if nothing else is at hand. Several months ago, i was using a computer that didn't have any chess program loaded, so i tried downloading Chess Titans. I found an unregistered version that turned out to be a 'mutant.' It is by far the hardest chess program i've played, way harder than the Chess Titans i'm used to. It carries many of the same features and visuals, but boy is it tough. Any way i can learn more about this program? I wouldn't be surprised if it plays/thinks near GM level. Thanks.
Chess Titans is exclusive to Windows (Vista?) and I doubt Microsoft ever released it separately. What you downloaded must be some other software with the same name. As a side note, you should always be careful with software downloaded from the internet whose origin you don't know.
I don't have much interest in Chess Titans games since that's my standard chess partner at the moment, so I have many dozens of saved games I could post that I've played against it, if anybody's interested. Here's an example in case anybody is interested.
This is a very unremarkable game and I made a weak endgame move, but it's a good example of how my "miniplans" like seizing a file, outposting a knight, and doubling pawns have been very successful for me. The game also shows some typical chess program weaknesses and some characteristic moves that are typical by Chess Titans in this opening that are definitely weak.
Chess titan is a very handy opponent to have at home depending on your chess rating. I have CT on windows 7, and it will look and take advantage if you make a poor move. Its speed is fast so you have to give it some credit for that, but I have trouble with the the 3d pieces, they sometime blend into the board for me, so I like to set up a board with tournament pieces and transfer the moves there. And I agree very much so it is weak into the end game if you get there. I like to play the stonewall against it as black, and it really seems confused Oh, I played Vista against Windows 7 and w7 wins most of the time or a draw. So chess titans must be slightly stonger on W7.
I am not a born chess player but reached level 6 and now gone to 7 recently (Titan). What I find very irritating is that, Titan levels are not consistent. While playing at 6th, sometimes I could defeat very easily but sometimes it is too hard. Same thing is happening at level 7. Is it normal or virus are here too?
Tam, I would look at it this way, chess-titans is a good ever ready chess partner waiting to play you, and you can stop the game when ever you want and come back a week latter and pick up where you left off. Like I said try setting up your pieces on another board and then you can look at the board now and then and when you feel like you have the right move start the chesstitan up, and make your move. Have fun, that is most important, whether you win or lose, you are exercising your brain that is what matters
I am playing at level 8, I cannot get it to level 10, not sure why, anyways, It plays very much like a real person may play, and does make mistakes, but plays the opening moves very solid and if you are weak in your openings, that is where it likes to get you. I had problems with my computer and took it in for repair, was cleaned completely and moved up to windows 10, which does not have chess Titans There are free versions of chess Titans I may try to add to my computer. I suggest you try level 8, and see how well you can play against that level? I would lose way to often, but then realized that I was having trouble looking at the pieces in three dimension, the black pieces tend to blend into each other. So I am used chess.com set up, so then I found you can change the set up to top view. HTH Keep in touch, would like to know how you are doing with Titans?
If you want to play Chess Titans to level 10, play a solid opening, trade off equal material in the middle game, and then it falls apart in the end game. Chess Titans expects to win in the middle game. If the game goes to endgame with you having at least an equal advantage, you will win.
I hate to disagree with you chess102, I find on my chess titans it plays better then 1300 player, you may have older version, or you are such a strong player, it appears that way to you? What is your USCF rating?? mine was at 1600.
You might like to play chess sometimes, but then you want to try something else. You can install other Windows games like Hearts, Solitaire, and Minesweeper if you choose. These are classics that bring up great memories for many digital gamers.
Please, is this a safe site and version? I am so afraid to download anything anymore, but the el diablo version got good online reviews, and the site here looks good too, but no feedback or anything that worries me.
In reality, I see this as less of an innovation by Microsoft and more of them trying to compete with the sharp looking OS X and its Aqua interface. Older builds of OS X included Dashboard which was an entire virtual desktop screen of widgets.
