Actors: Please read the FAQS for this annual event and be sure that your application is received by December 5! (see below about the opportunity to prepare for this year's Generals). Auditors: Early bird rates are in effect until December 31. And sign up early to get the chance to receive a free assistant for the day!
2. Actors and Directors! Sign up for ATLAS to help get your career focused AND get the opportunity for a grant to advance your career!
Theatre Bay Area is proud to announce a new edition of one our most popular and beneficial programs, Advanced Training Leading Artists to Success (ATLAS). ATLAS was initially developed in 2008 as a resource for actors to identify personalized career goals and to better understand where they fit in the Bay Area theatrical landscape. In 2012 we launched our inaugural round for directors. Since its inception approximately 160 artists have participated in the program, and 18 have received Titan Awards to help them realize their career goals.
ATLAS actor participants also receive a guaranteed slot at the General Auditions (and feedback on their audition)! ATLAS director participants get to do a mock pitch on their dream show to a panel of local artistic directors and receive feedback on their pitch.
For the first time, we will have two simultaneous rounds of ATLAS: one for actors and one for directors.
Click http://www.theatrebayarea.org/Programs/ATLAS.cfm for the details and an application!
3. Don’t miss these great events! Join us as the theatre community comes together to discuss two important topics.
December 3
Diversity Symposium: 2-6 p.m.
The Bay Area is one of the most diverse regions in the country, and yet a casual observer may not recognize that in the work we do or in the people that make up our local theatre landscape. Women are the majority of the population, but opportunities in the
field (administratively and creatively) seem to be disproportionately small. Some theatremakers seem to address the ideals of diversity easily, while others struggle to even know where to begin to address it for themselves. At this half-day event, members
of the community will come together to grapple with what the current ecosystem looks like, what it means for our field and what we can do about it.
