DESCRIPTION:
P.T. Barnum, the Greatest Showman on Earth, combines razzle-dazzle with charm and brass to sell “humbug” to cheering crowds. A joyful and moving musical portrait of the nineteenth century’s greatest show-biz legend, BARNUM is a colorful, dynamic spectacle with heart. Cy Coleman and Michael Stewart’s rousing score includes “There’s a Sucker Born Every Minute,” “Join the Circus,” “The Colors of My Life,” and “Come Follow The Band.”

First Read-Through: Monday, April 1, 7-10pm
Rehearsals: Evenings, 7-10pm, Saturdays, 3-6pm (Not all actors needed at all rehearsals), 4/22-6/16
Performances: June 21-June 30, Fridays & Saturdays at 7:30pm, Saturdays and Sundays at 2:00pm
Video Submissions welcomed, especially for circus acts!
Stipend available for certain roles.
Fee: $500 for actors 18 and under.

The roles of P.T. Barnum, Charity Barnum and the Ringmaster have been cast. All other roles are available!

Joice Heth: “The Oldest Woman Alive”. Sings ‘Thank God I’m Old’. Seeking fun character actress, any age.
Tom Thumb: “Smallest Man in the World”. Sings ‘Bigger Isn’t Better’. Seeking spirited Puppeteer and singer.
Jenny Lind: “The Swedish Nightingale”. Sings ‘Love Makes Such Fools Of Us All’. Soprano. Confident and Sly. Must be bilingual, all nationalities encouraged.
Blues Singer: Sings ‘Black and White’. Seeking female with big, soulful voice.

James A. Bailey: Small Circus Owner, Chester Lyman: Joice Heth’s Manager, Amos Scudder: Owner of the American Museum, Sherwood Stratton: Tom Thumb’s Father, Mrs. Sherwood Stratton: Tom Thumb’s Mother, Wilton: Barnum’s Assistant on the Jenny Lind Tour, Edgar Templeton: Political Party Boss, Humbert Morrissey: Political Party Boss.

Also Seeking:
Tumblers, Acrobats, Gymnasts, Jugglers, Clowns, Ground acts, Sideshow artists, Giants, Strongmen, Singers, Dancers, and Stilt Walkers of Every Size, Shape and Description!

What to Prepare:
16 to 32 bars of a song from the Broadway or musical theater canon, preferably in the style of the show, with sheet music. Please no Tapes or CDs. Sheet music is strongly preferred, but if you do not have sheet music, be prepared to sing a cappella (without musical accompaniment). The choreographer will be teaching a very short dance combination, so please come in shoes that you can move in. Please bring a non-returnable headshot or snapshot (school photos are great).
