Santa Clara Players encourages performers of all ages, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, gender identities, and body types to explore the joy of being on stage. SCP also welcomes theater newcomers or those returning to it after a long hiatus. If you want to be on stage, we want you at auditions!

Performed in a series of vignettes, this fantastical-comedy explores the hills and valleys of romantic love in all of its forms.

Welcome to Almost, Maine, a place that’s so far north, it’s almost not in the United States. It’s almost in Canada. And it’s not quite a town, because its residents never got around to getting organized. So it almost doesn’t exist. One cold, clear, winter night, as the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky above, the residents of Almost, Maine, find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and hilarious ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. But the bruises heal, and the hearts mend – almost – in this delightful midwinter night’s dream.

Auditions will be held on March 23rd and 24th, from 7-10pm at the Santa Clara Players theater. No appointments necessary, drop-in whenever you can. No prepared monologues necessary. Access the audition form on the SCP website here

Auditions will include cold reads from the script, pairing off into group readings, and some light physical improvisation. Please anticipate being with us for approximately 60-90 minutes. If you will be arriving after 9pm, please reach out to the production team beforehand as we may wrap up early if conditions allow.

Callbacks will be held on March 26th and March 30th (if needed).
