Position Overview
The Master Carpenter will oversee the construction, installation, and maintenance of the set for Frozen Jr. at Sunnyvale Community Players. This role involves collaborating with the Set Designer, Technical Director, and other crew members to execute a high-quality, safe, and functional set that meets design specifications.
Responsibilities: • Set Construction: Lead the build of scenic elements based on the Set Designer’s plans, ensuring structural safety and attention to detail. • Team Leadership: Supervise and guide the construction team or volunteers, delegating tasks and providing guidance to ensure timely completion. •
Technical Expertise: Provide expertise in carpentry, rigging, and set assembly, including troubleshooting any technical challenges that arise during the build. •
Coordination for Load-In: Oversee the load-in/Strike process on April 5th/May 2nd to ensure efficient and safe installation.
Maintenance During Run: Conduct any necessary repairs and adjustments to keep the set in optimal condition throughout the production run.
Requirements: • Proven experience as a Master Carpenter in theatre, particularly in community or youth productions. • Proficiency in carpentry and set construction techniques, including tools and materials. • Strong organizational and time management skills to lead the build team and meet production deadlines. • Understanding of safety protocols and ability to enforce them on the job site. • Strong teamwork and communication skills to coordinate effectively with the Set Designer and production team.
