[URGENT CASTING] 2 Roles for Naatak’s 117th production "HOLE" – Rehearsals start Jan 3!

Hi Everyone, 

Naatak is seeking two actors to fill vital supporting roles in our upcoming production, HOLE.

THE PLAY:  A bay-area startup that launches the greatest engineering project in human history – a hole through the earth in which a train can transport passengers from Cupertino to Delhi in 42 minutes. Driven by the Silicon Valley ethos of ‘ask for forgiveness, not permission’, the startup casts all caution to the winds and rushes headlong into the project. 

We are looking for dependable performers who can bring distinct perspectives to the environmental debate at the heart of the play.

ABOUT NAATAK: We are the largest Indian theater company in the United States. We are a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) non-profit , currently in our 30th season and producing our 117th production. All cast and crew at Naatak are non-union and unpaid.

OPEN ROLES:
DEADLINE TO APPLY: 5pm, Jan 1.

1. HIKER - PROFESSOR (M/F, 45+): An academic who values progress and innovation above all else. They are pragmatic and believe environmental disruption is a necessary cost of human advancement.
   Two 20–30 second monologues across two scenes.
2. HIKER - CAMPER (M/F, 20+): An outdoorsy, passionate individual who loves the earth. They are the voice of conservation and are deeply opposed to the "Hole" project.
   Two 20–30 second monologues across two scenes.

SCHEDULE: 
Candidates must be available for all dates.

Rehearsals:

• Jan 3: 10:30am - 12:00pm (Santa Clara)
• Jan 10, 11, 17, 18: 8:00am - 12:00pm (Santa Clara)
• Jan 22: 6:30pm - 11:00pm (Dress Rehearsal at Starbright Theater, Campbell)

Performances: 
18 shows on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from Jan 23 – Feb 15 at Starbright Theater, Campbell. Full show schedule can be viewed here.

Because of the tight turnaround, we are casting these roles immediately. Please note that these are non-union, unpaid volunteer roles.
