Hi, Bummers! City Lights in San Jose is bringing Lauren Gunderson's AI thriller
anthropology to the Bay for the first time, and we have some great lower-cost options:
* Pay What You Can Night: 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 14. Suggested donation is $25, but any amount is accepted.
* Theater Industry Night: 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 3. All tickets $40. You don't have to be a theater-maker to attend, but we added a Wednesday to make life easier for show people.
Lisa Mallette directs an awesome cast: Maria Marquis, Tiffany Cartagena, Alycia Adame and Doll Piccotto. Synopsis: In her immaculate Silicon Valley home office, Merril believes in patterns and systems. But her life as a hotshot coder and AI expert falls apart when her younger sister Angie vanishes on her way home from class. After the police abandon their search, Merril gathers the digital material her sister left behind — from texts and emails to online purchases and social media comments — and creates an AI composite. The virtual Angie is a comfort. Until it starts to reveal new details about the real Angie’s disappearance.
