TheatreWorks’ Education Department is currently accepting resumes for Teaching Artists for the 25/2026 academic school year. Teaching Artists are practicing professional artists with the passion, skills, and understanding of an educator. Real-world experience in their artistic field of choice enables them to enrich their curriculum and engage a broad scope of people beyond the classroom. Teaching Artists bridge the gap between the arts and learning to cultivate the future generations of awesome individuals ready to change this world.
Job Summary:
TheatreWorks Silicon Valley seeks a skilled and collaborative Teaching Artist (TA) for a variety of ensemble-devised theatre programs for K-12 students and other community members. Focus of programs is to live performance skills, including acting, playwriting, staging, voice, movement, and theatrical storytelling.
Desired Experience:
● Minimum 3–5 years as a professional actor in local, regional, or national theater or film, television, and other scripted media content (web series, podcast, etc.).
● Experience performing and/or directing contemporary and devised theatre.
● Background in voice or movement coaching is a plus.
● Experience directing or coaching K-12 youth and 55+ adults.
Skills + Qualifications:
● Skilled in leading physical warmups, ensemble-building, and performance exercises.
● Passion for collaboration and building artistic trust within an ensemble.
● Able to create, revise, and rehearse original student-devised plays and theatrical work.
● Capable of modeling vulnerability and stage presence in creative spaces.
● Experience with directing or choreographing student work.
● Background in devised theatre and experience with short and/or long-form improvisation.
● Reliable means of transportation and a valid CA driver’s license or ID are required.
● Daytime weekday availability along the Peninsula, South Bay, and other locations with mileage reimbursement offered to qualified candidates.
● Fluency in another language (please let us know what and proficiency level)!
● Cultural competency to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, as well as with a variety of institutional and governmental organizations.

● Must be flexible working in a fast-paced, non-profit environment.
● This position works primarily at program sites, including K-12 schools and community centers, as well as training and development sessions with TWSV Education Department.
● Must be willing to use personal equipment such as cell phone and laptop/tablet when working remotely.
● Complete administrative duties such as recording and submitting detailed deliverables.
● Must be willing to undergo clearances/ background checks for K-12 schools and community centers. All applicants offered employment with TWSV Education Department may be subject to a Live Scan background check, as well as TB testing.
● Able to supply a social security number, Tax ID, or proof of authorization to work in the United States.

Commitment + Compensation
● Non-exempt, part-time, temporary position
● $55 to $75 hourly, dependent on project scope and timeline
● Mileage reimbursement is $0.70 per mile for eligible programs
