INSTRUCTIONS:
  • Sign up for an audition appointment HERE.

  • Fill out an audition form and upload headshot and resume HERE.

  • Prepare one 1–2 minute Shakespeare monologue. If you don’t have a prepared Shakespeare monologue, a contemporary monologue will suffice.

  • Be prepared to read sides at callbacks.

If you choose to send in a video audition, instructions are on the audition form.
Video auditions must be submitted before April  3, 2026.
$400 travel stipend is available - non AEA only

Rehearsals run Sunday through Thursday from 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

We are seeking actors of all races, ages, ethnicities, abilities and gender identities for our production. 

This production will feature intentional doubling to reflect the mirrored worlds of court and countryside.

Two movement performers may be cast to help shape the physical language of the production and participate in both narrative and abstract storytelling.


ROLES

LEONTES

King of Sicilia. A powerful ruler whose sudden and obsessive jealousy destroys his family. Requires a wide emotional range—from warmth and charm to paranoia, rage, and profound remorse.
Age Range: 40–65
Doubling: None

HERMIONE

Queen of Sicilia. Intelligent, composed, and morally grounded. Faces accusation with dignity and strength. Requires stillness, authority, and emotional depth.
Age Range: 30–55
Doubling: None

PERDITA

Daughter of Leontes and Hermione, raised as a shepherdess. Natural, radiant, and grounded in the earth, yet inherently noble. Embodies renewal and hope.
Age Range: 18–30
Doubling: None

POLIXENES

King of Bohemia and lifelong friend to Leontes. Dignified and thoughtful, yet capable of forceful authority.
Age Range: 40–65
Doubling: None

PAULINA

Wife of Antigonus. Fearless, morally uncompromising, and fiercely loyal. She challenges power directly and becomes central to the play’s movement toward restoration.
Age Range: 35–65
Doubling: None

CAMILLO

An honorable Sicilian lord. Intelligent, steady, and pragmatic. Acts as a moral counterbalance within the court.
Age Range: 35–65
Doubling: None

FLORIZEL

Prince of Bohemia. Romantic, sincere, and courageous in love. Must balance youthful ardor with quiet strength.
Age Range: 18–30
Doubling: None

ANTIGONUS / OLD SHEPHERD

  • Antigonus: Husband to Paulina. Loyal but conflicted. Tasked with abandoning the infant Perdita.

  • Old Shepherd: A rustic, kind-hearted man who discovers and raises Perdita.
    Age Range: 45–75

CLEOMENES / SHEPHERD’S SON (CLOWN)

  • Cleomenes: Sicilian courtier who witnesses the Oracle.

  • Shepherd’s Son (Clown): Earthy, opportunistic, comedic. Participates in the Bohemian festival atmosphere.

DION / ARCHIDAMUS

  • Dion: Sicilian lord.

  • Archidamus: Bohemian noble.

EMILIA / LADY / LORD

Court attendant to Hermione in Sicilia and additional court presence in Bohemia.

AUTOLYCUS

A charming rogue, peddler, thief, and opportunist. Central to the energy of the Bohemian festival. Strong rhythmic sense required; singing ability and comfort with movement encouraged.
Doubling: May also appear in minor roles.

MAMILLIUS

Young son of Leontes and Hermione. Sensitive and perceptive.
Age Range: Child actor or convincingly youthful performer.

POSSIBLE ENSEMBLE

Lords, Ladies, Shepherds, Servants, Attendants. Ensemble members will help create the contrasting physical worlds of Sicilia and Bohemia and will likely participate in choreographed movement and rhythmic elements. Embodiment of Time, bridging the sixteen-year gap. May be cast separately or doubled. May participate in movement work.
