2024-25 Education Season Announcement
Marin Shakespeare is thrilled to announce that we will launch a new education program this fall: Youth and Teen Company Performance Workshops! Students 8-19 will have the opportunity to perform on the stage at 514 Fourth Street under the guidance of professional theatre artists, with sets, costumes, lighting, and sound.
The titles for the Fall Session are….
Youth Company (8-12)
Alice in Wonderland
Adapted from Lewis Carroll
Directed by Artistic Associate Cathleen Riddley
Bored with all the structure in her life, Alice does what any of us would do: she follows a rabbit down a rabbit hole to a world where nothing makes sense. But can she hang on to her own identity as she grows and shrinks, argues with birds, swims in a sea of her own tears, and gets put on trial by a deck of playing cards? Youth Company's talented performers will bring this amazing world to life guided by award-winning actor and theatre artist, Cathleen Riddley.

Teen Company (13-19)
Metamorphoses
By Mary Zimmerman
Directed by Artistic Associate Stevie Demott
Metamorphoses is a sweet cacophony of people's yearnings as they try to negotiate life and death. Beginning with the well-known story of Midas and his golden touch, through stories about Orpheus and Eurydice; Eros and Psyche; and Aphrodite, Zeus, and other gods, demigods, and humans; we are reminded that life is about change — not just physical change, but changes in our perceptions of need and greed, love and loneliness, money and humility.
Teen Company presents Mary Zimmerman’s Tony Award-winning play, with actor and theatre maker, Stevie Demott at the helm.

The Fall Session productions will rehearse September-November and perform December 7 & 8. A preliminary rehearsal schedule is available HERE. This is a no-cut program, so all who audition will be cast. Auditions for both productions will be held on August 27 and 28. For more information, register and sign up for an audition slot.

And that’s not all! Winter Session is going to be absolutely witchy and includes the return of Teen Touring Company with Macbeth. Youth Company presents Spooky Shakespeare, a compilation of supernatural scenes and monologues from Shakespeare’s plays and inspired by his work, featuring ghosts, witches, sprites, and spirits, plus some plain old villains. Winter Session auditions will be November 18 and 19. More information and audition sign-ups will be available in late August.
Spring Session promises to be next level, with our own MSC Artistic Director, Jon Tracy, directing the 2025 Shakespeare for Student Audiences production, Romeo & Juliet, featuring actors from our Teen Company working alongside professional and community actors. The Youth Company project is a surprise, so stay tuned for that announcement a little later in the year, along with information about auditions for both productions.
We look forward to seeing you at these wonderful classes and events!
