Now is a great time to get your voice sounding like a real pro.
Casting Directors will love you even more when you SING GREAT!
Get your breath working for you. Find the tone that is you at your consistent best.
Let go of that tension that makes your voice sound pushed.
We've all worked with that actor who sounds so good and makes it look just so easy. Highs, lows, loud, soft,, it just seems to pour effortlessly out of them. It doesn't just happen. They did the work and mastered a healthy vocal technique. You can too!
I teach the Bel Canto vocal technique.
It's been saving the bacon for professional singers
for over four hundred years.
It's based on good breath, relaxing the throat, clear articulation, projection and careful listening.
You are relaxed and in control. You make exactly the sound you want.
Bel Canto works great in theatre and pop styles.
You just dial out the vibrato and make it sound like you and the essence of the song you are singing.
I'm classically trained by international opera stars. I have a graduate degree in Vocal Pedagogy (the teaching of voice). I know what works for singers like you. I've been teaching this method to actors and pop singers with great success for some time now.
I've worked with Tony Award winning theatres, record labels and producers, I was on faculty of San Diego's Old Globe Theatre's MFA in Acting and San Diego State's MFA in Musical Theatre. I've had a nice international career as a singer including, extensive recording and singing on network TV
I have a lovely studio in the Claremont area of Berkeley. It's close to the Rockridge BART and Hwy 24. We spend the first part of each lesson doing exercises to build your skills. Then we use those skills in songs you choose. I can help you build repertoire, audition pieces. I accompany you and provide you with practice or performance recordings in the right key for you.
We record each lesson and I burn you a CD.
I usually see students once a week for a $50 half hour lesson or a $90 hour lesson. I accept cash, checks, Paypal and credit cards.
