This stunningly beautiful, folk-pop musical adaptation of Shakespeare’s As You Like It was developed for the Public Theater’s Public Works program, which seeks to “put theater at the heart of every community, and community at the heart of every theater.” We need actors, singers, and movers of all abilities, ages 8+, to come tell this story about how “love makes the magic real” with us.

At auditions, you'll participate in some collaborative theater games, perform a prepared (ideally memorized), age-appropriate monologue*, and perform a 60-second selection from a song (ideally from a musical).

*Monologues may be comedic or dramatic, but keep in mind that As You Like It is a comedy... You don't need to get too serious! The musical also plays with Shakespearean language— choosing a monologue from a Shakespeare play might be a great idea. Please do remember that actors as young as 8 may be at your audition and choose material that is appropriate for all ages.
