Staged reading audition for Taming of the Shrew adaptation

The Curtain Theatre and the Envision committee of Masquers Playhouse are excited to announce auditions for their upcoming project: a staged reading, adapted and directed by Lindsey Abbott, managing director of Curtain Theatre, Mill Valley’s free Shakespeare in the park.This will be a collaboration between Curtain Theatre and Masquers Playhouse.
Non-union; no pay.
THE TAMING OF THE SHREW by William Shakespeare
What if the setting for Shakespeare’s courtship comedy took place in a reimagined Elizabethan England where society is controlled by women? Join us for a hilarious, high-spirited take on a classic. The language of the play will remain the same, but the gender of many roles will be reversed. For example, the wealthy woman Baptista has a plan: marry off her eldest son to the highest bidder (whether he likes it or not). Rehearsals
Rehearsals will be held September 28-30 and October 5-8, 7-10pm.
Performance Dates: October 9-11, 2026
Friday and Saturday evenings at 8pm and Sunday matinee at 2pm
