Tomorrow Youth Repertory seeks a Production Manager - Alameda, California
Tomorrow Youth Repertory is a youth theater company in Alameda that offers after-school programs and summer camps. Most are designed as play productions that culminate in end-of-semester performances held in rented community spaces such as schools or churches. Our team brings in sets, lighting, and sound so students can share their work in a fully supported performance environment.
The Production Manager is the point person during show seasons. Responsibilities include:
Facilitating space setup at the end of each season
Running the technical side of performances
Serving as the primary coordinator and contact for designers
Working with a small team
This is a part-time, seasonal position. The role has previously been filled by gigging stage managers.
Show seasons:
Three to four per year
Each season lasts four to six weeks
Typical timing: November and December, April and May, July
Some years include an additional two-week January or February run
During show seasons:
Twenty to thirty hours per week
Tech rehearsals on weekday afternoons and early evenings. Weekends are performance days.
Between show seasons:
Planning and organizing tasks such as coordinating costumes and answering parent volunteer questions
Usually, only a few hours per week
This role includes regular interaction with students in grades one through twelve. We welcome all experience levels and focus on accessibility, process, and growth. We use theater to build empathy and respect.
CompensationThe current budget for this role is $20,000 per year. The position has the potential to grow if the person in the role is interested.
