Audition Workshop

Sunnyvale Community Players welcomes you to our upcoming audition workshop this April! This workshop is a great opportunity for newer actors to learn the ins and outs of auditioning, and for more experienced performers to refine and sharpen their skills.
This workshop is open to actors ages 14 to 100 of all experience levels, whether you are stepping into the audition room for the first time or looking to level up your technique.
During this course, actors will explore all the key elements of a successful audition, including preparing a resume, selecting the right monologue and song, slating, and maintaining calm and focus in the room. Each performer will have the chance to present both a song and a monologue and receive thoughtful, constructive feedback from a working professional.
This class will be taught by Bay Area local director and actor, Thomas Times, Executive Artistic Director of SCP. Accompaniment will be provided.
The workshop is split into two sessions:
Part 1: April 21 from 6:00pm to 10:00pm
Part 2: April 25 from 12:00pm to 5:00pm
Participation in both sessions is strongly encouraged to get the full experience.
Actors who plan to audition for SCP’s Season 57, featuring Into the Woods, Alice in Wonderland, RENT, Descendants, and Mean Girls, will benefit from focused preparation and insight tailored to these productions.
As an added bonus, all participants will receive feedback on their next audition at SCP, giving you continued support beyond the workshop itself.
The registration fee is $200, and space is limited to allow for personalized attention. Fees will be collected at the first class. Scholarships may be available to support those in need.
As an added option, for an additional $75, Thomas Times will work one on one with you to help build out your audition book by selecting a monologue and song that best fits your voice and type.
Participants who have previously been involved in SCP productions will receive 35% off their registration fee.
All actors are asked to come prepared with a song and a monologue. For those who do not yet have a monologue, options will be provided.

Who can participate?

Do I need to attend both sessions?
Yes. Attending both sessions is highly recommended to get the most out of the workshop and apply feedback between meetings.
What should I prepare?
Please bring one song and one monologue. If you don’t have a monologue, we will provide options to choose from.
Is accompaniment provided?
Yes, an accompanist will be there for your song.
Are there discounts available?
Yes. Past SCP participants receive 35% off, and limited scholarships may be available.
When do I pay?
Fees will be collected at the first class session.
What is the $75 add on?
This optional add on gives you personalized help from Thomas Times to build or refine your audition book with material that fits you perfectly.
Do I get feedback after the workshop?
Yes. Anyone who participates will receive feedback on their next audition at SCP.
